PowerPlus Energy is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the LiFe4851, a new rack-mounted lithium iron phosphate battery designed for residential, commercial and off-grid energy storage systems.
Pre-orders open April 2, 2026, marking the beginning of the LiFe4851 soft launch ahead of the official market release scheduled for May 2026, subject to final CEC listing approval.
The LiFe4851 represents the next evolution of our battery platform, combining enhanced safety engineering, modular scalability and flexible system integration in a compact 19-inch 3RU rack-mount format.
Engineered for Safety and Reliability
Safety has been a central focus in the development of the LiFe4851. The system has been engineered to meet leading international safety standards including UL1973 and UL9540A.
Unlike many battery systems that rely solely on cell chemistry for protection, the LiFe4851 incorporates system-level safety engineering, including fire-retardant separation between prismatic lithium iron phosphate cells and continuous monitoring through the integrated Battery Management System (BMS). These measures are designed to help contain potential thermal events and ensure safe, stable operation.
The battery also features active cell balancing, which continuously monitors and adjusts individual cell performance to improve efficiency, extend battery life and maintain long-term capacity.
Flexible Integration Across Energy Systems
The LiFe4851 has been designed to integrate with a wide range of energy systems used across the Australian market.
The battery can be used in two different operating modes:
- Self-Managed Mode: allows the battery to operate independently using the internal BMS without communication protocols.
- Communication-Managed Mode: enables coordinated operation between the battery, inverter and energy management system via CANBus.
This flexible architecture allows the LiFe4851 to be installed in both modern integrated energy systems and existing installations requiring a standalone battery solution.
At launch, compatibility includes several leading inverter platforms including Victron, Selectronic, SMA, Deye/NOARK and Solis, with additional integrations currently being evaluated through ongoing testing at our Melbourne facility.
